The Best Vitamin Supplements for You

Let’s face it: probably a small percentage of us actually get all of the vitamins & minerals that our body needs in our normal diets (and if you personally do congratulations). To compensate for the lack of vitamins in our diet, a lot of us take vitamin supplements. I took my multi-vitamin & vitamin C tablets after lunch for as long as I can remember. There’re different kinds of supplements available on the market…what’s best for you?

You might be thinking that the multi-vitamin tablet that you take after every meal is sufficient for your body’s needs, & maybe it really is. After all, a bottle of multi-vitamin supplements is usually inexpensive, & nowadays you can get chewable vitamins if you’re tired of having to swallow pills with water. However tablets & pills tend to have low absorption rates, so you’ll still need to maintain a reasonably healthy diet for most of your vitamins & nutrients. Just think of these supplements as an added bonus.

On the other hand, your diet may not contain as much vitamins & nutrients as your body needs. As typical as this may sound, you need more absorbent supplements to compensate as such. One particular example is liquid nutritional supplements. Since these are in a liquid form they’re generally more absorbable than pills & tablets, so your body will get more out of it… They are also easier to swallow than pills & tablets. However bottles of these liquid supplements tend to be more expensive, with prices ranging from $30-$40. So you’ll need to decide if the increased absorption rate & ease of ingestion is worth the extra money, or if it might be cheaper for you to simply eat healthier.

We all need our vitamins & minerals to live a healthy life. But remember that these supplements are by no means a replacement for your regular meals & drinks. So do your best to eat as much of a healthy diet as you can, & take the vitamin supplements that fit your needs best if you need them.
