Treatments & Side Effects
VNS - Vagal Nerve Stimulation is done by surgically placing a pace maker type device in the chest & connected to the Vagal Nerve. The Vagal Nerve runs from the neck to the brain & is believed to affect mood. Once the device is implanted regular electric pulses are sent along the Vagal Nerve to stimulate it & to lift the moods of patients.
Side Effects: There is concern there may be cardiovascular issues. There is more. There have been headaches reported & swelling toward the back of throat has been reported as well.
ECT- Electroconvulsive Therapy is done by administering a general anesthetic & a muscle relaxer at the same time. Electrodes are placed on the head & small “shocks” are delivered to the patient. A seizure should erupt if it was performed correctly. Only small movements in the hands & feet will be observed due to the muscle relaxer. Once the patient awakens they will be very confused & remember nothing surrounding the treatment.
Side Effects: Side effects that have been reported are memory loss, reoccurrences of seizure activity, & later on movement disorders have occurred.

Herbal Supplements are all natural & safe. They are a blend of herbs that are known to affect mood with vitamins, minerals, & other nutritive substances in a specific formula. To ensure the quality, efficacy, & potency of the herbal supplements the metabolism of each ingredient should have been tested at the molecular level. The interactions of the ingredients should also have been observed. When they’re manufactured it should be according to pharmaceutical grade standards.

You are cautioned though if you’re taking prescriptions for other conditions that you consult with your doctor because herbal supplements could reduce the effectiveness of those medications.

These drugs work on changing the levels of these chemicals in the brain or making more of those chemicals that are already present more available for the brain to use.
