Pain Relief for an Abcessed Tooth
One day I noticed a student with a pained look on her face. And so… She said she had an abscessed tooth, & she had forgotten her medication & could not concentrate enough to work on her assignment. Her pain level was 8 out of 10 (with 10 being the worst).
I asked her if she would like to attempt some Emotional Freedom Techniques to see if it would alleviate the extreme pain she was experiencing. She agreed that it was worth a try.
We used these statements for the first round of tapping:
*Even though I’ve an abscessed tooth, I’m an OK kid.
*Even though I forgot my medication …
*Even though there is throbbing pain up the right side of my face…
*Even though they might have to pull the tooth out…
Her pain level dropped to 6/10 after the first round of tapping. We did a second round which dropped to 4/10. We used the above statements & “Even though it still hurts….”
I noticed that she made a growling noise. And so… So, I had her continue with the above statements & had her “GURRRR” louder — which made her giggle. I find that laughing helps move energy, & that is what we’re intending to do with Emotional Freedom Techniques. I listen for little noises that my clients make that are not really words & encourage them to do it louder.
*Even though this throbbing pain is still here GURRRRR…
The pain dropped to a 1/10. One more round of tapping brought it to no pain!!! She was surprised
that the pain totally disappeared.
