If so, is the cost more for lasik surgery if you have toric prescription?

Best answer:

Answer by David ELASIK can be done even if you wear toric lenses. The price will not be any higher. Prices range from $ 1000 per eye for a pretty basic procedure (Like the one I had 11 years ago and still love) to $ 2000 for state of the art. You may need to be out of your contacts a little longer before your procedure. Toric lenses are thicker and distort the cornea more than others.

Question by its meee: How old should you be to get Lasik Eye surgery done?
I am 20 years old. I’ve had glasses since i was about 16 or 17. I am seriously looking into Lasik eye surgery because i hate wearing my glasses ( i am near sighted)

Recently it seems as though my eyes have gotten worse. My glasses work fine when i have them on, but i’ve been noticing that when i dont wear them, its getting harder & harder to see things i once could.

Question is, how old are you supposed to be to get this done? If i get it done now, and say a year or two down the road it starts getting worse again do they do ‘free touch ups?’

Also, if anyone knows, how does sitting in front of a computer affect your eyes? I’m a writer, so i spend plenty of time in front of the screen.

Thanks!
Also, how do i find a Lasik eye specialist near me..and how do i know they are legit & safe?

Best answer:

Answer by racer 5118 is the magic age so you’re fine there. you eyes will get worse with glasses as you’ll become more dependent on them as time goes on. once it’s done, it’s usually good for life. my sil had this done quite a few . . . → Read More: How old should you be to get Lasik Eye surgery done?

good luck

Have been thing about having lasik but not sure who or what place to have it done. Will be in phoenix arizona anyone have any recommend or experiences? What’s regular lasik and custom does it really make a difference?

Best answer:

Answer by LissacalI am in CA, so I cannot answer your specific question regarding surgeons in AZ, but I have some advice….

My advice would be to talk to everyone….talk to your family, friends and co-workers. Then ask your family, friends and co-workers to talk to their family, friends and co-workers….you get the idea. I found my surgeon by word of mouth. I asked everyone I know if they had Lasiks (or knew anyone who had Lasiks), and what doctor they went to. Almost everyone I talked to in my area went to the surgeon I ended up going to, and everyone was perfectly satisfied. I went into the procedure very confident!

Just one other thing….I went to a doctor who used computerized, laser equipment. No knives were involved. But, it cost me a pretty penny. I paid $ 5500 for both eyes, but I was not comfortable going to a doctor that advertised in the newspaper for $ 500 per eye.

Question by noname: Inversion table safe after lasik? Can people sleep while being partially inverted?
I have back pain and is looking for whatever way to fall asleep easier. I had lasik done so was wondering if its safe doing inversion therapy after lasik can’t find anything on google about it.

Best answer:

Answer by JessieeIt depends on how long ago you had lasik, if it was recently, I don’t recommend doing inversion therapy. It is best to just try to relax where you are and not disturb the eye’s healing process. But, generally inversion therapy will not damage or affect your eye.

Yesterday morning I had Lasik in my right eye and PKR in my left eye. A day and a half later I my Lasik eye is still blurry. The doctor said it’s somewhat normal because I had a strong astimatism and very poor sight to begin with. Should I be worried? How much time should I give it before I worry?

Best answer:

Answer by Shelly tthe dr’s that i talked to said they had vision right after the surgury, and the next day. They are eye doctors that had it done. I had surgury not lasik but a stigmatism correction and was blurry for a bit maybe a week. now ok but get blurry at times. and that is years later.

With the Baby Boomer generation now reaching their retirement years, the number of Americans who need some sort of corrective lenses may be even higher than the earlier estimated one in two who will require them at some time during adulthood.

As a result, any medical procedures which can enhance defective vision are receiving considerable attention, and at the head of the pack is LASIK. LASIK has nothing to do with high blood pressure, and is actually the acronym for Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis. Now you know, but you don’t know much.

LASIK surgery is designed to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. It may also help with a number of less common optical defects, which can remain hidden for years without affecting a person, and require a professional optical exam to discover them.

How LASIK Procedures Work

While LASIK surgery is not cheap, it is usually amazingly fast. It requires the eye surgeon to cut a flap in the first or first two, layers of the cornea, lift the flap, and expose all the tiny tissue irregularities that accumulate over time within or beneath the cornea. These bumps, fissures, and wrinkles will hinder the proper refraction of light entering the cornea, and poor vision is the result.

If the accumulated tissue forces the cornea into a steeper than normal angle, shortsightedness ensues. If the cornea is too flat, farsightedness ensues. And if the excess tissue is just clogging thing up without reshaping the cornea, astigmatism, accompanied by halos, starbursts, ghost images, and poor night vision, ensues. Depending on the condition being treated, the eye surgeon will either reshape the cornea, or clean it out.

The obvious benefit to having LASIK surgery is that your sight will be so improved that you can give up your eyeglasses or contacts. And the entire procedure, amazingly, normally takes less than sixty seconds, one little minute, per eye.

The Cost Of LASIK Procedures

All that magic, of course, has its price. As the technology of the lasers involved in LASIK surgery advances, so does their price, and so does the amount you’ll pay for a LASIK procedure. In parts of the US, LASIK surgery can be as much as a thousand dollars per eye. But if there is an older procedure which will work for you, and you’re not someone who feels comfortable only with state-of-the-art technology, you can have LASIK surgery at a much reduced price.

You should also educate yourself on the side effects which sometimes come with LASIK surgery; they range from dry eye and inflammation to infection, oozing, and even a reappearance of the original defect. But the incidences of all LASIK surgery side effects have decreased greatly over the past decade, as LASIK surgeons gain experience in the workings of the human optical system. For more info see http://www.2020lasikeyesurgery.com/Articles/Lasik_Eye_Surgery_Risks.php on Lasik Eye Surgery Risks.

Finally, you’ll need to determine if you are a suitable candidate for LASIK surgery. Anyone under eighteen is not, because the human eye continues to change its shape for at least eighteen years. Expectant mothers also may experience pregnancy-related vision problems which correct themselves after delivery. The only way to determine if you qualify for LASIK surgery is to consult with your ophthalmologist.

Lasik eye surgery recovery takes only a short time because of the special nature of the surgical process. The surgery will require only approximately 10 minutes at the most. Lasik mostly employs a new laser technology. The tool burns eye tissue at the very interior part of the stroma within the eye. Unlike the other eye surgeries, zero cutting of sensitive tissue is used. This process does not call for a long recovery time, since the tissues are not really “wounded” in the common meaning of the word.

Lasik eye surgery healing periods are usually 48 hours. However, individuals are frequently recommended to rest for at least two more days. They often wear a special shield on their eyes to reduce infection possibility. Rubbing must be completely avoided during the period. Potential side effects after the surgery may include dry eyes, glare and other complications. They will be naturally recovered within several months. No special medications are needed for the process.

Its normal that post surgery, you may experience complications, such as visions, regular astigmatism, or a diminishing in clarity for a short time. Over a longer period, from few weeks to six, these specific problems may diminish significantly. In a few cases, you may need further surgery before recovering completely from Lasik. If these problems continue more than 6 full months, these may be permanent effects.

You could also need surgery additionally to improve various anomalies. It’s so essential that individuals adhere to their eye doctor’s instructions following Lasik surgery. LASIK eye recovery periods completely depend on the care you take with your enhanced eyes.

Laser Lasik recovery is typically quite hassle free, especially when recommended cautions are complied with. The new person has to completely not perform a strenuous job in the initial few days. Use of make up items has to be completely avoided for a couple of days. Swimming and hot tubes- resumed just after a time of several weeks. The client will make a cautionary measure when first joining in events like karate to prevent immediate blows to the head.

Finally, Lasik surgery recovery and a patients life after eye surgery are very common concerns for most individuals thinking about Lasik. Lasik is absolutely better understood at this time, and plenty of good surgeries have been performed.

You have to be at least 18 years of age with vital eyes and a stable refraction.Pregnant and lactating women are debarred as are patients suffering from diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, glaucoma, herpes infections of the eye, or cataracts. You are disallowed if you take medicines like Accutane? or oral PrednisoneLasik does not pledge perfect vision though it does assurance some liberty from contact lenses and glasses.Lasik surgery has evolved over the years. What was offered as the standard procedure previously has now been transformed into a custom lasik operation catering to your eyes and your needs. This procedure photographs your eyes three dimensionally as they accept light which is utilized to chalk out a surgical strategy. This novel operation is termed lasik wave-front technology and precision is the key word here when compared to contact lenses or glasses. Custom lasik results speak for themselves though it may not be the best option for everybody. Approval of the FDA is required for lasik wave front procedure to be initiated. The advantages range from better prospects of having a 20/20 vision, less chances of having problematic night vision, increased light sensitivity, or even losing contrast sensitivity.Lasik in San Diego and Lasik institutes in Los Angeles are possibly the best options for most people keen on this procedure. Both cities come highly recommended for their excellent lasik doctors, lasik institutes, pre and post operative care and follow-ups.

Lasik costs depend on doctors, technology, and institutes you opt. While one lasik surgery involves operating only on one eye, the costs will double if both eyes are operated. Lasik doctors and lasik institutes may also add charges reliant on whether lasik wave front analysis is being employed or not for that added accuracy.
