Psoriasis – Are You Vulnerable?

Annually, there are around 150,000 new cases of psoriasis are diagnosed and roughly more than 4.5 millions adults in America have been diagnosed with the disease. It is estimated 20% of them have moderate to critical psoriasis.

Psoriasis does not pick its victim. Males and females are equally ‘infected’ by this disease. Due to medical researches, psoriasis may have an ethnic link since it is mostly infect the Caucasians and little amount of its cases on the African Americans. Meanwhile, psoriasis is mostly widespread in Scandinavia and other regions of northern Europe. A small amount of psoriasis cases appears among Asians and Native Americans.

Psoriasis also associated with genetic component. One third of psoriasis patients have at least one of their family members with psoriasis.

However, due to researches and studies, people who are in between 15 and 35 years old usually will have psoriasis signs and symptoms at this period. It approximately three quarters of psoriasis patients has psoriasis before age 40. Nonetheless, it is likely to develop psoriasis in any age. Normally after age of 40, an onset period likely to occurs from 50 to 60 years of age.
