How do I find what prescription my eyeglasses are?

I have a 7 year old pair of eyeglasses that work fine but I want to update the style. I don’t know what my prescription is and don’t need another eye exam so can the Optometrist find my prescription just using my glasses or ?
I have a 7 year old pair of eyeglasses that are working fine (correct prescription verified at an eye exam 1 year ago) but I want to get a newer style of glasses. I don’t know my prescription but can the optometrist figure it out without another eye exam? Thanks.

if it has been seven years go see a doctor and pay 50 dollars it is your only pair of eyes

    Oh!

My glasses are not quite as old, but I want to buy a new pair for the same prescription, without the exam.

Chances are you will call and they will say, “I’m sorry but you will have to have an eye exam”, apparently peoples perception changes over the years, so maybe it is best?

However, you may have an awesome Optometrist who has your info on file still.

Yes, the optometrist can read your prescription, but it’s also a good idea to get an eye exam anyway. Just because you can still see out of those glasses doesn’t mean that your prescription should say the same. Also, your doctor can check the overall health of your eyes and screen for eye diseases. It’s better to prevent a problem later down the road. You don’t want to end up with inch-thick lenses.

I’m guessing you don’t have the original receipt from when you had them made, but that would be one way to find out.
The optometrist can find out by just taking a few measurements from your glasses with a pair of calipers. That shouldn’t be a problem. By the way, you should have an eye exam about every two years.

Get an eye exam, its been over a year and it isn’t much compared to the cost of glasses but yes, the OD can figure it out
